National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has announced changes in the party's leadership during his absence from the country.
In a statement shared on his X account (formerly Twitter), Kyagulanyi appointed Hon. John Baptist Nambeshe as the Acting President of the National Unity Platform, replacing Dr. Lina Zedriga, who has served in the role for the past four months.
Kyagulanyi commended Dr. Zedriga for her outstanding leadership during his absence, praising her commitment to the party and its mission.
"She has steered the party well and kept the revolution alive. We are all grateful for her dedication and service," Kyagulanyi said.

He announced that Nambeshe would assume the responsibilities of Acting Party President, taking over from where Dr. Zedriga left off.
"I am pleased to announce that Hon. John Baptist Nambeshe, the Deputy President for the Eastern Region, will be taking over as Acting President of the National Unity Platform," he wrote.
Kyagulanyi called upon all party leaders and members to accord Nambeshe the necessary support as he assumes his new responsibilities.
The leadership changes come in the aftermath of the January general elections. Following the polls, Kyagulanyi's residence was reportedly raided by security forces in an operation aimed at detaining him. After spending weeks in hiding within Uganda, he eventually left the country and announced Dr. Lina Zedriga as the Acting President of the party.
